The practical answer
Outdoor EV charging can be reliable, but the installation has to respect water, snow, sun, cable strain, and physical exposure. Weather rating matters, but placement, hardwiring, mounting height, drainage, and cable storage matter too.
Decision path
- Prefer a weather-rated hardwired unit for permanent outdoor use.
- Mount equipment where it will not sit in standing water or be hit by vehicles.
- Plan cable reach and storage before installation.
- Use a pedestal when wall mounting would create unsafe cable routing.
